"LGD puppy and baby Mountain Goat"
by Rob Woods
Rob Woods is a wildlife artist in Derby, England and donates a piece to Born Free to auction off at their annual fundraising "Pride in the Park Summer Ball". This year Rob learned about the Born Free Slovakian Livestock Guarding Dog Programme and decided to draw a Cuvac puppy and a baby Mountain Goat.
The program is run by the Slovak Wildlife Society with support from organizations such as Born Free. They also have a "Sponsor a Livestock Guarding Dog" program to enlist help from the general public.
Artist Rob Woods emailed and asked if I had photos of kuvasz puppies I'd be willing to share with him for his drawing. Rob selected the photo of 8 week old Laney that I sent to AKC with her foreign registration.

Rob's drawing raised £200 and will hang in Hawcross Hall in Derby. What a world traveller this puppy has become! First coming to the US from Sweden, and now as the poster puppy for Slovakian LGDs in England!
Laney turned a year old in June, 2003 and is maturing nicely. The closest she has been to "wildlife" is the squirrels and crows she chases in our yard.
